Phil IveyHigh-stakes action for Phil Ivey had been slow lately — until a solid past seven days saw him win one of the biggest pots the online world has seen in the past few weeks.

Most of the more than $200,000 in profits over the past week were thanks to a $200-$400 pot-limit Omaha session Monday on Full Tilt Poker. Ivey sat down at the virtual felt with the likes of Brian Hastings, Phil “OMGClayAIken” Galfond, DrugsOrMe, and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies.

Ivey took a huge pot off the free-falling Sahamies to the tune of nearly $200,000.

Here is a look at the hand that propelled Ivey to black:

The Scenario:

Game/Blinds Pot-Limit Omaha $200-$400
Player Ilari Sahamies Phil Ivey
Stack Size $97,252 $121,970
Hand AHeart Suit QHeart Suit 9Spade Suit 6Spade Suit 7Heart Suit 5Diamond Suit 4Club Suit 3Spade Suit

The Action:

The confrontation started when Ivey raised to $1,200 from the button. Hastings three-bet to $4,350 from the small blind, and Sahamies called from the big blind. Ivey called as well. The flop came 6Diamond Suit 6Heart Suit 4Heart Suit.

Hastings checked, Sahamies bet slightly more than $13,000, and Ivey called. Hastings mucked, and the 8Spade Suit fell on the turn. Sahamies checked, and Ivey fired $33,000. Sahamies check-raised all in for just under $80,000 total. Ivey called with his turned straight. According to Card Player’s Omaha odds calculator, Ivey was only a slight favorite against the flush draw and full-house draw of his opponent.

Fortunately for Ivey, the The 3Club Suit landed on the river, and he raked in the $199,063 pot. Sahamies was more than a 70-percent favorite on the flop, but Ivey was able to come from behind and have his hand hold against all the re-draws.
