PokerStars European Poker Tour -- Prague Day 1AClose to 200 Players Jump into the Fray on Day 1A |
|
The final PokerStars European Poker Tour main event of 2010 began today in the capital city of the Czech Republic. The €5,300 no-limit hold’em EPT Prague main event attracted 191 players for the first day-one flight. Eighty-five have made it through to day 2, which will take place on Wednesday, December 15.
This tournament attracted 584 players one year ago, so day 1B will have its work cut out for itself to make up ground when cards get into the air tomorrow. There weren’t any big names at the top of the leader board to end day 1A, but Team PokerStars pro Marcin Horecki is still in the hunt, as are Marc Inizan, Fabrice Soulier, Matt Affleck, and Kevin MacPhee
Day 1B begins at noon local time tomorrow, and you can follow along with all of the action on the PokerStars blog feed. Check back tomorrow afternoon for another summary of the action.
Here is a look at the tournament statistics from day 1A:

Day 1A Eliminations:
Card Player Player of the Year contender Sorel Mizzi, Jan Skampa, Maria Maceiras, Michael Tureniec, Vitaly Lunkin, Jakob Carlsson, Nicolas Levi, Jeff Sarwer, Ludovic Lacay, and Team PokerStars pro Arnaud Mattern
Hand of the Day:
Sorel Mizzi Eliminated
Sorel Mizzi had been knocked down to an extremely short stack when he decided to move all in with 3 2 in the hole. Marc Inizan quickly made the call with Q J. The flop rolled out a J to give Inizan an even larger lead and there was no catching up for Mizzi after that.
Mizzi was eliminated on the hand, falling well short of making up any POY points in Prague in the main event. He is currently in third place with 4,785 points, which is still about 2,000 behind the current leader, Thomas Marchese.
