PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Kicks Off Thursday48-event Schedule is Highlighted by $10,000 Main Event |
|
For the eighth straight year the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure is on the calendar to start the poker year off in exciting fashion at the Atlantis Hotel and Resort in the Bahamas. All eyes will be on the $10,000 no-limit hold’em main event, running Jan. 8-15.
Last year’s record-setting main event field reached 1,529 players and a $14,831,300 prize pool. The televised final table featured the likes of Tyler Reiman, Ryan D’Angelo and Card Player CEO Barry Shulman, but it was 19-year-old Harrison Gimbel who took down the title and $2.2 million. This year’s main event will conclude on Jan. 15, and for the first time ever ESPN will show the final table on the same day it plays out using a one-hour tape delay. It will start airing at 5 p.m. EST on ESPN3.com before ESPN2 takes over the broadcast at 10 p.m. EST and airs the action until the champion is determined.
The 2011 PCA has 48 scheduled tournaments. Card Player will offer live coverage of some of the larger tournaments, including the main event, the $100,000 super high roller event, the $25,000 high roller event and the NAPT $5,000 bounty shootout. Other major tournaments taking place include the $5,000 PLO championship, the $5,000 heads up championship and the $5,000 8-game championship. You can check out the full PCA schedule at the tournament’s landing page on CardPlayer.com.
