Raise Your Hand for Africa Charity Poker Event Takes Place Friday and Saturday at the Golden Nugget

Phil Hellmuth and Fellow Poker Pros Will Be Joined by Hollywood Celebrities and NFL Greats

The Golden Nugget will host the Raise Your Hand for Africa charity event Friday and Saturday.Phil Hellmuth will be joined by a cast of Hollywood celebrities, NFL superstars and other poker pros this weekend for the special Raise Your Hand for Africa Texas Hold’em charity event benefiting the Starkey Hearing Foundation and PROS FOR AFRICA. Presented by World Poker Entertainment, this inaugural event will take place at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas this Friday and Saturday, and contributions will help fund missions to provide hearing devices and awareness to needy children in Africa.

Among those attending will be actors Steve Martin, Don Cheadle and Verne Troyer, famous singer and Starkey Hearing Foundation Hearing Ambassador Jordin Sparks, and 30 NFL stars including Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and Cincinnati Bengals safety Roy Williams.

Anyone interested in participating in the charity event can find more information and register at starkeyhearingfoundation.org. The registration fee of $2,000 provides two passes to the VIP reception at 8 p.m. on Friday, one guaranteed seat in the main event starting at 1 p.m. Saturday and two passes to the post-tournament party. The main event will be televised by the Heartland Poker Tour.

Players in the main event will start with 2,000 in chips with another 2,000 chips available for $500 re-buys or the $500 add-on. Levels will run for 15 minutes, with blinds starting at 25-50. The re-buy period will end after the first hour of play, at which point a 15 minute break will occur.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation was started in 1984 and works every year to promote hearing health awareness and prevent hearing loss. Since 2000, the Foundation has been all over the globe supplying nearly 500,000 hearing aids to those in need.
