Next month, Daniel Zammarrelli is heading to Las Vegas for a trip he won in a poker promotion offered jointly by Bodog and CardPlayer.com. Zammarrelli is the winner of the Vegas VIP Tournament that started in December and played its championship in May.
Zammarrelli was one of nearly 50 players who qualified for and played in the championship tournament on Mother's Day. He qualified for the event by playing in a monthly small-buy-in cash tournament at Bodog. Points were given to players according to where they finished.
Zammarrelli qualified by finishing second in one and seventh in another, although he played in five qualifiers. The day of the championship, Zammarrelli, who is a truck driver for UPS based out of Sacramento, California, had a simple goal that day.
"I woke up that morning and said I have to win this," he said. "Somehow I won it."
Zammarrelli will travel to Vegas July 5-8. Courtesy of Bodog, he will stay at the Wynn, go clubbing, play in a $1,000 tournament while in town, and generally be treated like a Vegas VIP. The prize is worth $5,000
He considers himself a beginner at the game and has only been playing for a little more than a year. He can be found playing smaller buy-in tournaments at Bodog ranging from $4 to $16. He found Bodog through CardPlayer.com, where he took advantage of a deposit bonus.
He just was in Vegas a few months ago and can't wait to get back to try some more poker tournaments. He says that he plans on making Vegas his new stomping grounds by using plenty of his vacation time there. Thanks to Bodog, he'll be off to a good start.
