European Poker Tour -- Berlin Day 1ACristian Dragomir Leads after Day 1A and McLean Karr is Near the Top |
|
Day 1A at the PokerStars European Poker Tour Berlin no-limit hold’em main event attracted a field of 315 players and by the end of the night just 151 remain. The overnight chip leader is Cristian Dragomir with 205,500. McLean Karr is also near the top of the chip counts with 145,800.
Karr is having a great week at the felt, he won the World Poker Tour Vienna high roller event a few days ago. Other notables who survived include Fabrice Soulier, Nasr El Nasr, Per Linde, Jon von Halle, Marc Inizan, Ana Marquez, and Team PokerStars pro Arnaud Mattern.
Day 1B will swell the size of the field considerably tomorrow and you can follow along with all of the action on the PokerStars blog feed. We will see if there is a large enough turnout tomorrow to match the total field of 946 players who participated in this event last year. Check back in tomorrow evening for another summary of the day here on Card Player. Here is a look at the tournament statistics from day 1A:

Hand of the Day:
Stani Finds a Boat
Jeff Sarwer opened the action on a 10 8 7 flop with a 4,800 bet from middle position. Kevin Stani made the call from the big blind after initially checking and the turn fell 8.
Stani checked again and Sarwer bet 8,500. Stani made the call and the river fell 10. Both players checked and then they flipped over their cards:
Stani: A 8
Sarwer: J 9
Stani won the hand with a full house and Sarwer took another hit to end the day. He was the chip leader at one point of the day but fortune did not smile upon him in the late going on day 1A.
