Premier League Poker Returns

The World Poker Tour and Matchroom Sport have announced the return of Premier League Poker later this year.

The event will be renamed World Poker Tour Premier League Presented by PartyPoker.com and will expand to include 16 players rather than the usual 12. It will also have $250,000 added to the prize pool and a seat into the WPT World Championship 2012 worth $25,500. The buy in for the event is $125,000.

David Benyamine is the current champion.

Steve Heller, chief executive of the World Poker Tour said, “WPT and Premier League Poker both represent top class poker competition and high quality television. The Premier League structure is one of the most unique in the world. WPT has always been an innovator, and this is a perfect fit.”

While Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport said, “I’m delighted that Premier League Poker is now a World Poker Tour special event. This association not only gives Premier League Poker extra credibility amongst players and guarantees them extensive global coverage, it also cements the winner as one of poker’s true greats when he or she joins the ranks of WPT Champions.”
