Credit: PartyPokerLukas Berglund topped a total field of 216 at the World Poker Tour Spanish Championship in Barcelona to become the youngest ever WPT champion.

The 18-year-old Swede impacted the final table like a whirlwind, sucking up all the chips, and personally sending each of his opponents to the rail. Straight out of school, the young gun adds €206,000 to his name for a terrific performance.

Berglund’s final opponent was Frenchman Romain Matteoli. The heads up lasted just 15 minutes with only three flops seen before the ultimate hand. Berglund raised to 120,000, Matteoli called, and the two saw the 8Club Suit 7Diamond Suit 4Heart Suit flop. Matteoli bet 120,000 and Berglund called. The turn was the 5Club Suit which saw a check from Matteoli and a bet from Berglund. The Swede’s 240,000 bet prompted Matteoli to move all in and Berglund made the call. Matteoli tabled 8Heart Suit 3Heart Suit while Berglund revealed ADiamond Suit 6Diamond Suit. The river was the 5Spade Suit and Matteoli had to settle for the runner-up prize of €118,000.
