Scottish poker pro Richard Sinclair has won the PokerStars.com UK & Ireland Poker Tour main event in Newcastle lifting £67,000 for topping the 554-strong field.
Sinclair started the day as chip leader the £500 buy in event, winning the first hand of the day and, a mere five hours later, the final hand against fellow Brit Raj Verma where he held aces but Verma flopped an inside straight draw but could hit his key card.
“I think Raj played the best at the final table,” said a humble Sinclair after his victory," especially to come back from the beat he took, but I got the right cards at the time."
While this was Sinclair’s largest live score he has some online form in the shape of a runner-up finish in the Sunday Million as “Daddddymufff” which saw him collect over $100,000.
The final table payouts were:
1: Richard Sinclair (United Kingdom) — £67,000
2: Raj Verma (United Kingdom) — £40,400
3: Rakesh Paul Gupta (United Kingdom) — £24,700
4: Barry Foley (Ireland) — £18,100
5: Tim Slater (United Kingdom) — £14,050
6: Jonathan Gawith (United Kingdom) — £11,210
7: Tadhg Ryan (Ireland) — £8,580
8: James Morris (United Kingdom) — £6,510
The next stop on the tour is Brighton from July 14 to 17 with a £100,000 main event.
