WSOP Main Event: Lars Bonding Looking to Postpone Move Back to Denmark

Vegas Resident Still Alive with 27 Left in 2011 WSOP Main Event

Lars BondingVeteran tournament grinder Lars “Dsavo” Bonding had been one of the best online players in the world over the course of his career, until April’s Black Friday shut down the major online poker sites.

Vegas-based Bonding has had to put his computer on standby, and as a result, has already prepared for moving his family back to his home country of Denmark in order to resume his online play. However, there could be a problem with that plan, as the poker pro is currently alive with just 27 players left in the 2011 World Series of Poker main event.

Should he outlast a couple more tables and become one of the November Nine, Bonding said he will have to put his family’s migration from the United States on hold. “If I final table this I will stay around a little while longer, that’s for sure,” Bonding said. “But we are pretty much set and geared up for moving back to Denmark. That’s going to happen, it just could possibly be postponed.”

Bonding, who over the course of a few months earlier this year recorded two wins and a fourth place finish in the $200 buy-in PokerStars Sunday Warmup, an event which consistently drew more than 4,600 entrants each week, has a wife and two sons, ages five and three. They will all eventually make the move back to Lars’ home country — a place where widespread online poker is available.

Bonding has made three deep runs so far this summer, but on each occasion he has run bad near the end. He admits he gambled too much deep in one of the events, but otherwise he has been playing his usual game. He will do the same for the final days of the 2011 main event. “I’m really happy about my game these days, so I should have a shot.”

Stay tuned to Card Player’s live updates to see if Bonding can survive to become a member of this year’s November Nine and compete for the $8.7 million first-place prize.
