Ben LambDay 7 is in the books at the 2011 World Series of Poker main event and there are now just 22 players remaining to continue the fight to the final table and the top prize of $8.7 million.

The chip leader going into the eighth day of action is Anton Makievskyi, who bagged and tagged more than 20 million. He got most of those chips thanks to coming out on the right end of a brutal cooler with Chris Moore.

The hand began with Moore calling a preflop raise from Makievskyi. The flop came K-J-J and fireworks went off. All the money went in with Moore holding A-J, but his opponent tabling K-J. Moore bricked on the turn and river, and was down to just 1.5 million after what has been the largest pot of the tournament so far. Fortunately for Moore, he was able to double up shortly thereafter to just over 3 million and survive the day.

Notable eliminations during the day include Sebastian Ruthenberg (55th), Andrew Brokos (53rd), David Bach (45th), Erick Lindgren (43rd), Tony Hachem (37th), Steve Brecher (31st), David Sands (30th), Erika Moutinho (29th), and J.P. Kelly (26th).

Sands and Moutinho, a couple, spent part of the day sitting next to each other at the feature table. However, both were nursing short stacks and eventual hit the rail shortly after the dinner break.

Poker pro Lars Bonding is still in contention to reach the final table. The Vegas resident said that he is hoping to postpone his move to Denmark after Black Friday shutdown online poker in the United States. Bonding will take his seat Tuesday with just over 4 million in chips.

Ben Lamb ended the day with 14.7 million (good for fifth), despite losing a large chunk of his stack earlier in the day after five-bet shoving with pocket jacks and running into kings. Fellow poker pro Phil Collins hung tight in the top 10 throughout the day, and will resume his quest tomorrow with 13.8 million. Bryan Devonshire had a lackluster day, but managed to survive. He will bring back 6.2 million tomorrow.

Day 8 begins at noon Tuesday and you can follow along with the action in Card Player’s level-by-level live reporting.
