Mantra Resort in UruguaySeason 4 of the PokerStars Latin America Poker Tour has seen events completed in Brazil, Chile and Peru. The fourth stop of the year has been shifted to Punta del Este in Uruguay from the previously announced location of Rosario, Argentina and the $2,500 no-limit hold’em main event begins Thursday, August 4.

Last year Team PokerStars pro Jose Barbero won the main event in Uruguay and he took home $279,330 in prize money. This also marked his historic back-to-back victories on the LAPT, coming on the heels of his win at the Lima main event.

The LAPT Punta del Este tournament stop will run from August 3-7 in the luxurious Mantra Resort, Spa and Casino. This is the same popular location of the Uruguay events held during the first three seasons of the LAPT. The Americas Cup of Poker will also be taking place in Uruguay on August 8-9.

The Americas Cup of Poker is an international team event contested among countries from across the Americas. Last year, the Canadian team topped the USA to win the title, with Mexico third and Colombia fourth. It attracts numerous top stars, including several representatives from Team PokerStars Pro.

Here is a look at the schedule for the LAPT Punta del Este main event:

Thursday, August 4: Day 1
Friday, August 5: Day 2
Saturday, August 6: Day 3
Sunday, August 7: Final Table

You can check back next week for a recap of the final table from Card Player.

In addition to the main event the tournament schedule features a $1,100 no-limit hold’em two-day event and a $5,000 high roller turbo freezeout on Sunday. Cash games are also offered at the Mantra Resort, giving a full week of poker to all players. Punta del Este is one of Uruguay’s most popular holiday destinations and it is a short hop from the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires.

“We strive to provide the best poker experience to our players on the LAPT and Uruguay will be a much better destination than Rosario on all counts,” said the LAPT President David Carrion.

“It is a great pleasure for Mantra Resort, Spa & Casino to host this important poker tournament once again. We hope that all participants and guests enjoy Punta del Este and the services of our resort and Casino” said Tony Lemom, Vice President of Mantra-Group.

The LAPT is now in its fourth season, with player numbers and prize pools escalating. More than 500 players contested the season-opening event in Sao Paulo in February and prize pools have regularly topped $1 million. All three winners on this record-breaking season have come from Latin America. Chile’s Alex Manzano won in Brazil, before Brazil’s Murilo Figueredo won in Chile. Then Kemal Ferri won on home turf in Peru.
