In an effort to draw more poker players to the track, the Breeders’ Cup has announced a new sponsorship deal with poker pro Michael Mizrachi. The two-day horse racing event is scheduled to take place November 4-5 and lucky fans will be able to attend the races with the Florida native.
Breeders’ Cup Vice President of Media and Entertainment Peter Rotondo explained that Mizrachi’s role will be to increase awareness about the racing world. “We believe that there is a strong cross-over between poker and horse racing, which has not yet been realized,” he said. “We’re thrilled to have a relationship with ‘The Grinder’ which will allow for one of poker’s superstars to reach out to the poker world and educate them about the Breeders’ Cup and the over $160 million in liquidity during our two-day event.”
Mizrachi is one of poker’s most recognizable faces and currently sits in seventh place on the all-time tournament earnings list with $11,461,916. In 2010 he finished fifth in the World Series of Poker main event and earned WSOP Player of the Year honors.
Over the years, Mizrachi has endorsed a number of online poker sites and casinos including Absolute Poker, Full Tilt Poker, Planet Hollywood and DeepStacks University.
