Ilari “Ilari FIN” Sahamies is still in the midst of a massive upswing. He now has won more than $2 million over the past two months, a period in which he won the largest pot ever tracked on PokerStars.
At one point this summer Sahamies was in a deep hole across all poker sites, but now sits as one of the year’s biggest winners, partly thanks to the past seven days where he is up $750,000.
Action has been wild and crazy lately on PokerStars, with the usual fireworks at pot-limit Omaha but also with some huge pots at $200-$400 no-limit hold’em. One of the game’s biggest pots of the past week occurred at a six-handed table that started with online player “takechip” raising to $1,000.
Opponent “LiangYu” called $800 from the small blind. The flop fell J 10 6, and LiangYu checked. Takechip bet $1,400, and LiangYu raised to $4,400. Takechip called the additional $3,000.
The Q fell on the turn, and LiangYu bet $4,000. Takechip made it $23,400. LiangYu called.
The 5 hit the river. LiangYu fired $60,000, and takechip shoved for nearly $230,000. LiangYu called $84,460 and was all in. Takechip exposed the A K for the stone-cold nuts, scooping $346,915. LiangYu mucked.
