The latest edition of Card Player Magazine is now available online and features Sam Stein, a current Card Player Player of the Year contender.
Stein is only 23 years old, but has already earned over $3.9 million in tournament earnings in his short career. The kid from Hidden Hills, California had a very successful WSOP this summer, finishing third in the $10,000 pot-limit hold’em event and then winning his first bracelet in the $3,000 pot-limit Omaha event.
Stein is rolling now, but it took an adjustment to his game to get him moving in the right direction. “I definitely had one of those moments where everything just clicked,” he said. “I don’t want to get into too much detail, but I wound up making a change that really allowed my game to take off. I can say that it generally has to do with balancing my bets on the river, feeling out those who I think will call when I’m bluffing for value and those who will fold when I’m betting as a bluff.”
Other highlights from this issue include a feature on tournament backing since Black Friday, interviews with Devin Porter, Brian Rast and Scott Seiver, as well as columns from respected poker minds like Dusty Schmidt, Ed Miller, Andrew Brokos, Matt Lessinger, Matthew Hilger, Mike Cappelletti, Roy Cooke and Steve Zolotow.
