The World Poker Tour Marrakech main event got underway yesterday and numbers were up to 274 this year from 222 in 2010 but still significantly down on the 416 who took part in 2009.
The €2,700 + €300 main event, being held at Casino De Marrakech in the Moroccan capital generated a prize pool of €1,094,670.
At the end of the first day of play 149 players remained including Bertrand Grospellier fresh from his mix martial arts fight with Lex Veldhuis, Davidi Kitai, Eugene Katchalov, Surinder Sunar, Arnaud Mattern, Brandon Cantu, and Barny Boatman.
The chip leaders are Mohamed Hossam with 186,700 and Iam Marmion with 158,500.
Last year the event was won by German Sebastian Homann who took home €244,50.
