A French poker player who registered with a government department as a gambling addict to be placed list which was supposed to prevent him accessing casinos – both online and live – is suing the government for €100,000.

The 37-year-old from Reims was still able to access casinos according to lawyer Emmanuel Ludot because the interior ministry registered him with the wrong address.

The list has around 36,000 people and online sites are obliged to consult it before allowing players to sign up.

Online poker in France was regulated and licensed in 2010 and the problem gambler list is one method of helping problem gamblers.
