PokerStars Caribbean Adventure 2012 Main Event Field Tops 1,000A Look Back At The PCA Main Event Turnout Since 2004 |

A total of 1,072 players put up the $10,300 buy-in to enter the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event, with 418 entrants on Day 1a and 654 players turning up for Day 1b.
This solid turn out built a total prize pool of $10,398,400. In all, 160 players will make the money, with this year’s eventual champion set to earn $2,000,000.
Since it’s inception in 2004, the PCA has grown into one of the largest poker tournament events outside of the World Series of Poker. In fact, 2012 marks the first time in the event’s nine-year history that the total number of entrants decreased from the prior year, with a roughly 31 percent drop from 2011’s 1560-player field to this year’s 1072 entrants. The drop in attendance can undoubtedly be attributed to the lingering effects of poker’s Black Friday, which left American player’s unable to satellite into this event online.
