Freddy DeebFreddy Deeb started 2012 off with a bang when he topped the 549-player field in the inaugural running of World Series of Poker Circuit Main Event at The Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. For the win, Deeb collected his first ever WSOP Circuit gold ring, the $171,810 first-place prize and 840 Card Player Player of the Year points.

The 56 year-old pro increased his lifetime earnings to more than $7.8 million with this most recent of his fourteen tournament titles, which include a win in the 2007 WSOP $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship, another WSOP bracelet in a $5,000 no-limit deuce-to-seven event and two World Poker Tour titles.

Deeb denied runner-up Alexandru Masek the win that would have him tie the record for most WSOP Circuit wins at five. The 26- year old has already tied Men “The Master” Nguyen with four WSOP Circuit gold-rings, and was within one spot of tying the current record holder Mark “Pegasus” Smith.

Unfortunately for Masek, the his tournament life came down to a gigantic coin-flip on the last hand, with all of the money getting in preflop with Deeb holding the QHeart SuitQClub Suit and Masek the AHeart SuitKHeart Suit. The board ran 10Heart Suit8Spade Suit3Club Suit 3Heart Suit4Diamond Suit to secure the title for Deeb.
