Fencer Jamie Kenber looks set to compete for Britan at the 2012 London Olympics and the 25-year-old Londoner told the BBC he supplements his income through online poker.

The 25-year-old Oxford graduate explained to the online news site that as well as tutoring maths he also puts in the hours grinding at poker. "I’ve had some wins, but it’s not a reliable source of income unless you have a lot of time to commit.

“I’m a decent hobbyist, but I’ve made a little bit of money from it. How much I play depends on how much time I’ve got.

He also said there were comparisons between the two disciplines, "In fencing someone might show you something and you don’t know whether they’re actually going to go through with it or if it’s just an early bluff. That happens in poker as well.

“And if you think people are doing things for the wrong reasons you can end up losing. It’s no coincidence that I enjoy both of them.”
