Rank May Buy Gala Casinos in UKGrosvenor Casino Operator Seeks To Expand With Large Acquisition |

Rank Group plc, owner of Grosvenor Casinos and the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour, yesterday confirmed it was in talks about a possible acquisition of the Gala casinos from the Gala Coral Group.
The Press Association said the deal, which would grow Grosvenor’s existing 35 casinos by 24, could cost £250 million and would catapult Grosvenor ahead of Genting which owns 45 casinos in the UK.
A short statement from Rank said, “The Rank Group Plc (“Rank”) notes the recent speculation concerning Gala Casinos. Rank confirms that it is in discussions with Gala Coral Group (“Gala”) about a potential acquisition of Gala’s casino business. The terms of any such acquisition have not yet been finalised and there is no certainty that any transaction will occur.”
Rank also owns the online bookmaker Bluesq while Gala Coral recently shut down the Eurobet poker brand to concentrate on Coral.co.uk.
