Jeffery Pollack and Bob Daily took time to address the media before the start of the biggest main event in World Series of Poker history, citing 2006's record numbers of players and over $158 million dollars in the total prize pool.

According to Daily, 48,000 players participated in this year's WSOP, crushing previous attendance records. This year's WSOP main event featured the largest field ever, but there are already "high-side" expectations for next year with the number of players projected to be around 12,000.

When asked what his biggest surprises were at this year's WSOP, Pollack responded by saying how much fun it was and how similar poker is to other sports properties. "We take an entire sports season and pack it into 48 days. We have a beginning and end. We now have an all-star middle with the H.O.R.S.E. event. The rhythms are exactly the same as any sports season that would run seven to 10 months. I've been down this road before, but it has never been as much fun as this," Pollack said.

According to Pollack, the biggest problem the WSOP faces next year is space, but don't expect the WSOP to move from the Rio any time soon. "We're all in agreement that we can do more with more space. From a player comfort standpoint, to making sure that someone who wants to play has the opportunity to play. We're already talking about how to make that better for next year."
