Although the World Series of Poker main event is less than a week gone, new questions are encircling the world's largest poker tournament. According to Jeffery Pollack, the early expectations and predictions for next year push the possible number of entrants to over 12,000 players. If Pollack and Harrah's have their way, every player who can pay the entrant's fee will have a shot at a first-place prize that will dwarf last year's prize.

"My goal is to ensure that anyone who wants to play and who can pay the ($10,000) buy-in for the main event is able to do so," said Pollack at a press Q & A session held before the main event's conclusion. The Commissioner of the WSOP then went on to say that space is the biggest problem the WSOP will face next year. With the exploding number of participants, some professional players have claimed that the main event has become more of a crap shoot than an event that features the world's elite players.

According to Daniel Negreanu, who voiced his opinion in his blog during the Series, the main event is no longer a worthy measuring stick for a poker player's talent. "There is so much hype put into the main event, but nobody in the poker world genuinely believes that the winner is the best player. And, eventually, the people in power will see it. How can you say this is the greatest nine players when each year, you have nine players nobody has heard from," wrote Negreanu.
