Paddy Power Plc, the Irish-based bookmaker which operates PaddyPowerPoker.com, today issued its annual report for 2012 with a positive note on the performance of its poker vertical.
“The Poker market continues to be challenging but we maintained our gross win overall last year and grew it in the second half,” the company said.
“Performance was boosted by new marketing initiatives, the continued popularity of our Irish Open Poker Tournament and Irish Winter Festival, and to some extent by the enforcement of the US online gambling prohibition against certain competitors.”
Overall the company, which also boasts games, bingo, and sportsbook, saw profit before tax up 16 percent to £121.3 million.
The company’s online business saw total revenue up 26 percent to £295.3 million.
In November last year the company’s chief operating officer, Breon Corcoran, left to join Betfair as chief executive officer.
