Top qualifier Michael Mizrachi The second annual WSOP National Championship is set to take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino on Friday, July 6th, and the massive $1,000,000 guaranteed prize pool event has an interesting new angle for 2012, with the top 100 performers from WSOP and WSOP Europe events during the past two calendar years now able to buy-in to the event for an equivalent equity of $10,000.

As one could guess, the list of newly eligible players is star studded, with the top five qualifiers being Michael Mizrachi, Ben Lamb, Shawn Buchanan, Phil Hellmuth and John Juanda.

The tournament will be part of the 43rd Annual WSOP, and will feature the top 100 performers from the 2011-12 WSOP Circuit, with 17 event winners and 17 casino champions earning automatic entry and 66 others earning their way in by gathering the most cumulative points. The 100 qualifiers from the WSOP Circuit will pay no entry fee, but will share in the entire tournament prize pool with $1 million added by Caesars Interactive Entertainment.

All money collected in additional buy-in entries will be added directly to the prize pool with none taken out, and the payout schedule for the 200-player capped event will be consistent with other WSOP bracelet events. The final table of the event will be featured as part of 2012 WSOP television coverage.

“This marks the first time we will take the best of the best from all our events to compete against one another to determine a true WSOP National Champion,” said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart.
