|
The second stop of the European Masters of Poker season IV has found its champion and now it gears up for its next destination; Crystal Crown Casino, Sunny Beach, Bulgaria (from May 28 to June 3). Joni Jouhkimainen beat 222 opponents to the top prize of €56,860 at Casino Estoril, Lisbon.
The €1,000 + €100 buy-in main event saw a multinational final table with players from Finland, Sweden, Ireland, Poland, and four from the host country, Portugal. It was a Finn final however with Jouhkimainen sizing up Tomi Huuskonen in the heads up. Jouhkimainen held 2.7 million in chips to Huuskonen’s 1.9 million but it only took 30 minutes for Jouhkimainen to take them all.
In the final hand Jouhkimainen raised 200,000 from the button and Huuskonen called to see a flop of J 5 2. Huuskonen bet 175,000, Jouhkimainen called, and the turn was the 6. Huuskonen fired again, this time for 250,000, and Jouhkimainen responded by moving all in. Huuskonen insta-called and flipped over A A but the rockets weren’t good enough as Jouhkimainen held 4 3 for a straight.
Huuskonen left in second place with €34,110 as some consolation for making it so close.
Here are the final table results and payouts:
