Card Player Poker Tour Choctaw Main Event Draws 800 Players

Event Blows Away Guarantee With $760k Prize Pool, $150k To Champion

The numbers are in for the inaugural Card Player Poker Tour Choctaw $500,000 guaranteed $1,080 no-limit hold’em main event. Just like every preliminary event before it that featured a guarantee, the main event has blown away the promised prize pool.

A grand total of 800 entries created a prize pool of $760,000. The eventual winner will take home a massive $152,008 in addition to the CPPT winners trophy and a stunning custom championship bracelet. The final 81 players will earn a minimum payout of $1,892.

Day 1B saw 492 players take their seats, with a number of recognizable faces taking their second shot at this re-entry event including Barry Shulman, Adam Geyer, A.P. Phahurat, Seneca Easley and Clint Tolbert. Unfortunately for them, the second time wasn’t the charm, as they all were eliminated before the end of play.

Scotty Nguyen was eliminated on day 1BSome players who were on their second bullet fared better, however, including Grant Hinkle (42,200), NBA point guard Eric Maynor (35,500), Dennis Phillips (44,900) and Allyn Jaffrey Shulman (45,600).

Some players made their first appearance in this main event here on day 1B, including Scotty Nguyen, Ylon Schwartz, Huy Nguyen and Mario Silvestri. None of these big names made it to day two.

At the end of the day, 140 players survived and are set to join the 84 who made it through day 1A on day 2. Leading those 224 players is J.T. Anderson with 178,100. Others who made it through the day with huge stacks include Cord Garcia, Jason Brewer, Tommy Vo and Keith Carter.
