According to Swedish Newspaper, Aftonbladet, a 23-year-old poker player is being held in custody for the robbery and extortion of hundreds of thousands of Krona from fellow Swedish poker players.

There are seven or eight victims and a total of more than 20 crimes, with an informant stating that some of the players have lost several hundred thousand each.

The newspaper reported that the prosecutor wanted the young man arrested for various crimes in the Gothenburg area, such as four extortion cases between June and December 2011, a robbery in December 2011, and aggravated robbery or extortion in June 2012.

One player was threatened with a gun to his head by the suspected blackmailer. He was forced to go to Gothenburg’s Casino Cosmopol and take out SEK 224,000, and was warned about going to the police.

Although these allegations have been denied by the accused, the player did happen to mention that a sum of money won on PokerStars, which was meant to be split amongst him and some high-profile players, had disappeared and the player had felt jilted.

At the detention hearing, Gothenburg District Court found probable cause, while the 23-year-old denied his involvement in any of the crimes.
