Seven Days Of Poker Begin Today In Malta

Season X champ Matt GiannettiThe World Poker Tour (WPT) starts on its Maltese journey today as it pulls into The Casino at Portomaso for seven days of poker action.

Leading up to the highlight of the festival, the WPT main event, are some satellites, and the first takes place this evening at 8 p.m. (local time) with a buy-in of €220 + €20.

The same satellite plays out tomorrow, Sept. 15, at 8 p.m., and on the first starting day of the main event, on Sept. 16, players can try qualify for day 1B via another satellite of its kind at 4 p.m..

All three have a starting stack of 7,500 in chips and blind levels of 20 minutes.

At 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 16, there is also a €330 + €30 buy-in satellite which features a starting stack of 10,000 and 30-minute blind levels.

The €3,000 + €300 no-limit hold’em main event kicks off on Sunday at 1 p.m. with day 1A. Players begin with a 30,000 chip stack and blinds will increase every hour. The re-entry event has a cap of 600. Registration opens at 11 a.m. and continues until the end of level 6.

Someone will follow in Matt Giannetti’s footsteps and hold the WPT title and trophy in Malta on Sept. 20. Last year the November Niner bested a 240-strong field to take home $273,200 and the WPT Champions Cup.
