The European Masters of Poker had to go from 12 to 1 on its final day, but when all the chips were eventually in the middle, it was Sergei Petrushin who was still smiling.
The Russian takes home €56,875 from stop four of season IV after topping a field of 455 in the €1,100 buy-in main event.
A deal was made with two remaining which saw Petrushin and his heads-up opponent Jose Maria Galindo Lopez set €10,000 aside for the champion.
After almost two hours of heads-up play the final hand came. Petrushin made it 200,000 preflop and Lopes moved all in. After a count which saw that Petrushin had the Spaniard covered, he made the call turning over K Q. Lopez held A 8 and the board was dealt K 3 3 4 2 putting the start of day chip leader on the other side of the rail, €48,405 richer.

The EMOP leaves the Gran Casino in Barcelona, Spain and moves towards its final stop for the season, Clontarf Castle in Dublin, Ireland. The €1,000 + €100 main event will run from Nov. 16 to 18 and hopefuls can now qualify for as little as €2 or 200 VIP points on all poker sites on the IGT poker network.
Daily satellites feed into three main weekly qualifiers; a €75 buy-in event on Tuesday and Thursday, and a €150 buy-in satellite on Sunday. All guarantee two €2,000 packages and all begin at 8.40 p.m..
