Greg Raymer emerged victorious in the Heartland Poker Tour Missouri main event at the River City Casino in St. Louis, earning $121,973 and his second HPT title of the year. In July Raymer took down the HPT event at the Route 66 Casino Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico for $71,875.
This was only the 2004 World Series of Poker main event champion’s third HPT event, giving him quite a record on the tour.
“Winning two of three tournaments is unreal and unexpected,” said Raymer, “I’m just very excited.”
This was Raymer’s eighth career title, and it brought his lifetime tournament earnings to $7,145,117.
A total of 336 players posted the $1,650 buy-in, building a total prize pool of $487,872. A number of notables made deep runs along with Raymer, including St. Louis’ own Dennis Phillips, who finished seventh for $14,636. Former HPT Oklahoma champion Shawn Roberts finished fourth for $37,810.
