Normandie Casino’s Russell Matsuo and Alisa Lee have revamped and reformatted Normandie Casino’s Friday Poker tournament series. The Normandie’s new Fridays’ series offers a $3,000 guarantee poker tournament with a $0 entry fee, $30 buy-in, and $10 staff bonus (no re-buy, add-on or re-entry) with each player starting with $4,000 of chips with $2,000 bonus chips.
Over the past few months, Russell and Alisa have worked together, brainstorming ways to improve the Normandie Casino’s Friday poker tournament series; their goal was to create a format that was both a bargain for players and competitive yet unique to other tournaments offered in other local Casinos. Additionally, Russell and Alisa wanted to highlight the Normandie Casino’s spirit of service with a personal touch and make all Casino guests feel at home and appreciated, as yet another way to distinguish the Normandie Casino from other local casinos.
Normandie Casino’s new poker tournament has a slightly higher guarantee of $3,000, a $0 entry fee, and low buy-in to cater to players who’d like to play a fun tournament with little financial commitment. Russell and Alisa’s brainstorming paid off and the tournament has been a great success, with double the average number of players the Normandie has seen in the past.
Russell and Alisa have a combined 25 years of employment with the Normandie Casino; Russell started as a Poker dealer in 1993, and Alisa Lee began as a chip runner in 2009. Several months ago, Alisa transitioned to a tournament assistant and, as a favor to a lead dealer, Russell began to train with tournament staff to be able to run and oversee the tournaments in addition to his regular dealing shifts. Although Russell and Alisa have been working on tournaments together for only a short while, their passion, dedication and creative collaborations are guaranteed to bring great tournaments and new excitement to the Normandie Casino.
