There are many stories of police busting poker games alleged to be illegal, but in the latest case of a poker crackdown, the authorities were the ones caught playing cards when they weren’t supposed to.
The BBC reported Sunday that seven members of a team of law enforcement workers in south-east London resigned or were fired after an investigation determined that they had played while on duty.
The officers were reportedly outed by an undercover investigation.
According to the London Evening Standard, hidden cameras revealed some officers would come to work and not even change into their uniforms.
Gambling while on the job was part of a larger crackdown on “lazy attitudes.”
