Mary Jones, a Las Vegan who secured her first bracelet at the 2006
World Series of Poker ladies event this past July, proved herself again at
this year's
US Open Poker Championship at Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. Jones won the $500 no-limit hold'em event.
At one point, Jones was out chipped nearly 3-to-1, but rallied back during the final table, even sending renowned poker player Scott Fischman to the rail. Jones experienced several swings during the last hours of short-handed combat. But in the end, Mary Jones bested a field of 272 players, taking home $47,192 and a
US Open title.
When asked about her astounding poker career accomplishments over the past two years, Jones replied that the knowledge and insight she captured from legendary player Doyle Brunson, along with the support and motivation of her husband Bob Meyer, have most affected her poker achievements and results.
