New York Governor Backs Three-Casino PlanSaid Wednesday That None Would Be In New York City |

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Wednesday during his State of the State address that he’d like to see three commercial casinos upstate, a local NBC affiliate reported.
No gambling operation would be constructed in New York City under the proposed plan.
WGRZ wrote: “Cuomo’s announcement is a change from what he and the Legislature backed last year in a constitutional amendment. The amendment allows up to seven casinos in the state.” The governor reportedly wants to keep pace with other states in the region which have or will be undergoing significant expansion to their respective gambling industries.
Lawmakers would still have to approve the plan and then it would be up to a referendum.
