In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. SOUTH
- The 2013 WSOP Circuit: Choctaw Durant (Jan 03, ‘13 – Jan 21, ’13) The Choctaw Casino Resort in Durant, Oklahoma moves into the final week of it’s massive, 43-event poker festival. The highlight of the coming days is undeniably the $1,675 WSOP Circuit main event, which kicks off with the first of two starting days on Jan. 18th at noon. Play continues until a champion is decided on January 21st. Last year this event drew 978 entrants, with eventual champion Abraham Araya earning $270,380 for the win.
- The 2013 Million Dollar Heater (Jan 04, ‘13 – Jan 23, ’13) The Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi is also moving into the final stages of it’s tournament series, with the $2,600 no-limit hold’em main event kicking off on Jan. 19th with the first of two starting days, each beginning at noon. The champion will be decided on Jan. 23rd.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2013 L.A. Poker Classic (Jan 15, ‘13 – Mar 03, ’13) The gigantic L.A. Poker Classic tournament series once again gets underway at the Commerce Casino and Hotel in Los Angeles, California. A total of 68 events will take place over roughly a month and a half of top-notch tournament action, with early highlights including a $250,000 guaranteed prize pool, $225 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that kicks off on Jan. 16th and a $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em event on Jan. 20th.
NORTHEAST
- The 2013 Borgata Winter Open (Jan 15, ‘13 – Feb 01, ’13) The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey kicks off it’s 25-event Borgata Winter Open this week, with early highlight being a $560 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with a massive $1 million dollar guaranteed prize pool. The World Poker Tour Borgata Winter Poker Open Championship will get underway next week on Jan. 27th, sporting a $2 million guaranteed prize pool.
NEVADA
- The 2013 Winter Poker Classic (Jan 04, ‘13 – Jan 17, ’13) Caesars Palace casino in Las Vegas, Nevada moves into the last week of its 28-event tournament series. The $560 no-limit hold’em championship is wrapping up, but there are still eight more $130 buy-in no-limit hold’em tournaments on the schedule for players looking for some more tournament action at affordable buy-ins.
