The World Series of Poker has announced the schedule for the 44th edition of the WSOP in Las Vegas. The biggest poker tournament series of the year will begin on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 and will once again be held at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Click here for the complete 2013 WSOP schedule.

The series will run for 49 straight days, with a total of 62 gold-bracelet events. The festival will reach its conclusion when the WSOP main event final table is set on Tuesday, July 16, 2013. In regards to the schedule of the main event, as in 2012 it will again run for ten days and feature three starting days, July 7-9.

Notable new events include the One Drop High Roller, which features an $111,111 buy-in no-limit hold’em event that kicks off on June 26th. The 3% house fees for this event will be donated by the Rio to the One Drop charity organization, with the hope that players who cash will consider adding a percentage of their winnings to the charity as well. In addition to that, the the Little One for One Drop starting on July 3rd will feature a $1,111 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament with two start days and unlimited re-entry through the first four levels. This is the only unlimited re-entry tournament on the WSOP schedule. $111 of each buy-in will be donated to the One Drop charity.

Also of note is the WSOP’s solution to the problem of male players entering the Ladies Championship in recent years. Despite strongly discouraging this practice, legally the WSOP could not bar male participants. Historically this no-limit hold’em event has featured a $1,000 buy-in, but this year the official buy-in has increased to $10,000. Ladies will be able to enter at a discounted price of $1,000 though. With the buy-in ten-times larger for male entrants, this should effectively solve the WSOP’s ladies event problem.

Open face Chinese poker will also make its debut at the WSOP in a $5,000 buy-in event on July 13th, but this tournament will not award a gold bracelet this year, but will be a trial run for possible inclusion as a bracelet event for future series.

Last year’s running of the WSOP attracted 74,766 participants in a total of 61 events, building a total prize pool of more than $222 million – the largest in the events 43-year history. New events for the 2012 WSOP that will return this year include the mix-max no-limit hold’em, the ante only no-limit hold’em and four-handed no-limit hold’em events.
