Andy Roddick and WPT Events, a division of the World Poker Tour, have joined forces to help raise money for the Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF). Created to raise money to help treat abused and at-risk children, the Andy Roddick Texas Hold'em Charity Tournament takes place Dec. 8, 2006, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. People who make a $500 donation to the ARF will get a seat in the tournament and a chance to play against Roddick and his celebrity pals.

Started in 2001, ARF's goal has been to improve the quality of life and enhance economic opportunities for all children. Last year, the charitable organization raised $1.3 million for various children's programs like Kids in Distress, A Safe Haven for Newborns, and the Children's Diagnostic Treatment Center.

According to WPTE founder and CEO Steve Lipscomb, helping raise awareness through this event is a great way to help children.

"We are pleased to be part of an event that allows people to have fun and enjoy playing poker while giving back to children, families, and community," Lipscomb said in a recent press release.

Roddick also conveyed his enthusiasm for the fund-raising event and the companies involved.

"We couldn't be more thrilled with the overwhelming generosity and support for such a crucial cause. This partnership with WPT Events and the beautiful Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino will make this a flagship event for the Andy Roddick Foundation. We look forward to what this event will help provide - fostering more awareness, hope and opportunity for at-risk children and families," he said.
