Rocco Palumbo Wins World Poker Tour Venice Title

Italian World Series of Poker Braclet Winner Adds WPT Title And €140,000

Courtesy of World Poker TourRocco Palumbo has won the €3,000 + €300 buy in World Poker Tour Venice main event taking down €140,000 for his victory over the 173-strong field at Casino Di Venezia.

The Italian World Series of Poker bracelet winner started the day short stacked but bolstered his chances greatly by knocking out Erion Islamay and Xia Lin and taking the chip lead after doubling through Robet Begni with A-A.

WPT ambassador Mike Sexton was knocked out in third place by Marcello Montagner who took 2,090,000 chips into the heads up duel against Palumbo’s 3,095,000. Twenty minutes later it was all over after Palumbo called Montagner’s all in holding J-8 on a J-T-8-4 board with his opponent holding 9-9 and not improving.
