Nevada’s nonrestricted gaming licensees reported a total “gaming win” of $792,496,546 for the month of June 2013, according to statistics released by the state Gaming Control Board.
The figure marks a 4.81-percent decrease compared to June 2012, when licensees reported a gaming win of $832,534,319. For the fiscal year (July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013), gaming win has increased by a tiny 1.81 percent, but is still a good sign of recovery.
Gaming win in May 2013 was $897,232,001.
The State collected $43,356,931 in percentage fees during the month of July 2013, based upon the taxable revenues generated in June 2013.
That figure represented a 13.26-percent (or $5,076,228) increase compared to the prior year’s July, when percentage fee collections were $38,280,703.
Properties in North Las Vegas experienced the best June, as revenues increased 16 percent. South Lake Tahoe saw revenues decrease by more than 24 percent.
On the Las Vegas Strip, gaming revenues fell 10.1 percent in June.
According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, the declines can be attributed to baccarat.
After the launch of Ultimate Poker in April of this year, online gaming is underway in the Silver State, and that should be another source of gaming revenue for the brick-and-mortar casino companies. More are expected to launch in the near future, as the next should be a product from the World Series of Poker, owned by Caesars Entertainment Corp.
Nevada casinos won $1.073 billion from gamblers in February. That figure, thanks to the Chinese New Year, was the highest since 2007.
