The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida set it’s sights incredibly high when it announced that the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $5,300 no-limit hold’em main event would have feature a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000.
In order to make the guarantee the event would have to attract 2,000 entries. When registration closed on Saturday night after three starting days full of re-entires a total of 2,384 entries had been made, building a prize pool of $11,920,000.
“This has been an incredible experience. We’re really excited that we made the guarantee and we really appreciate the support from all of the poker community,” said William Mason, Director of Poker Operations at the Seminole Hard Rock. “If you look around the room, some of the best in the world came out for this event. We hope we can do it bigger and better next year.”
As a result of the huge turnout the top 338 players will make the money, securing a payday of at least $7,500 and the eventual champion will take home a first-place prize of $1,745,245.
