For those in Nevada who pre-registered for the World Series of Poker’s real-money online poker at the Rio this summer, online action was available Tuesday — which was about two full days prior to the site’s statewide launch (for everyone) on Thursday morning.

Such players received an email with a special download link.

The site currently offers no-limit and limit Texas hold’em, pot-limit Omaha high, limit Omaha eight-or-better, seven-card stud high and seven-card stud hi-low eight-or-better.

“It is a gratifying and exciting day to see the WSOP online launch,” WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart said in a conference call Monday morning.

“From Fremont to any street in Nevada in less than a decade,” he said of how the WSOP franchise has been drastically transformed and expanded so quickly.

In addition to the cash games running, the site is offering freerolls and other smaller buy-in multi-table tournaments. Sit-and-gos are also open for business. The action is obviously expected to pick up drastically in the coming days and weeks.

The only other real-money online poker site in Nevada is Ultimate Poker, which is run by an offshoot of Station Casinos. That site launched back in April.

The WSOP is owned by Caesars Entertainment Corp.

Thanks to a partnership, Caesars is utilizing the software of 888 Holdings to run its games.

All in the industry are looking forward to when Nevada can join up with other jurisdictions to create even larger player pools for web poker games. Right now, only the Silver State, New Jersey and Delaware have legalized web gambling.
