Wynn Resorts, the giant casino firm run by billionaire Las Vegas legend Steve Wynn, will be getting on board with 888 Holdings for online gambling, according to a Monday announcement.

888 and Avenue Capital Group teamed up to create the “All American Poker Network” and that is what Wynn Resorts will be utilizing for its future Silver State Internet poker offerings. In Nevada, only brick-and-mortar casino owners can be the operators of Internet gambling, but technology firms, like 888, are allowed to be involved thanks to partnerships.

“This is exactly the type of partnership we’ve envisioned when we formed AAPN with our partners in Avenue Capital,” 888 CEO Brian Mattingley said in a statement. “The challenge of establishing a robust, entertaining offering with ample player liquidity is one of our prime goals, in direct continuum to 888′s success in other regulated markets such as Spain and Italy.”

He added: “Wynn’s market footprint and reputation will allow it to leverage our technology and products as it did so successfully in the land-based world.”

888 is the software provider for the recently-launched WSOP-branded site of Caesars Entertainment Corp. 888 also has a deal with Treasure Island casino.

In May, 888 was selected by the Delaware Lottery as the primary vendor with Scientific Games to operate the state’s Internet gaming systems. Delaware’s industry should kick off this fall.

Before Black Friday struck in April 2011 and before Nevada had legalized web poker, Wynn had reached a tentative deal with PokerStars to offer such games in Nevada. However, that deal fell through after PokerStars’ owner was indicted by the federal government.

Later, there were rumors of Wynn discussing a partnership with Zynga, but that never materialized.

In addition to Nevada and Delaware, New Jersey also has legalized web gambling. Wynn Resorts and 888 are expected to be players in that market as well. Other states in the U.S., most notably California (population 37 million), are considering web poker.

AAPN is honored to be selected by Wynn to be its online gaming partner,” David Licht, Executive Chairman of AAPN, added in a statement. “The platform and ancillary services AAPN will offer through 888, coupled with Wynn’s marquee brand, which is synonymous with quality and trust, will further establish our offering in the forming U.S. regulated online gaming market.”
