2006 UBOC Event No. 2 Final Table

The UltimateBet Online Championships (UBOC) held a successful second event last night. The pot-limit Omaha event gathered 279 players to the fray to build its guaranteed $50,000 prize pool up to $55,800. Each player plunked down a $200 buy in for a shot at the 30 paid places and the $14,508 first-place prize.

Many Internet notables made it deep within the tournament, including Eric "Rizen" Lynch, leggggggggggy, Jason "mkind0516" Laso, and longhorn757. Longhorn757 had taken down the weekly UltimateBet $200,000 guaranteed tournament less than two weeks ago, earning $45,000. Rizen busted out as the money bubble was approaching, despite playing well to have made it that far, and went home empty-handed in 38th. The other three made it through the bubble, and eventually all three found themselves sitting at the final table.

Mkind0516 and longhorn757 were the only two players to have broken into six-figure stacks, holding $151,000 and $103,000, respectively. Leggggggggggy was in fourth with $85,000, while manindisdress was at the bottom of the pile with $27,000. Manindisdress's stack only made do until the second hand. In a battle of the blinds, both he and longhorn757 limped to see a flop of Aclub Qdiamond 7spade. After back-and-forth raises, manindisdress managed to get himself all in and he showed Adiamond Jheart 8club 5heart for top pair. He was up against longhorn757's Qspade Qclub 4diamond 3spade for a flopped set and the lead. The turn and river were blanks, and manindisdress was the first to go in 10th ($1,116).

It was a full 20 minutes before the next elimination, which was an especially long time, considering the entire final table action lasted only 50 minutes. By the time the hand occurred, Mkind0516 ($106,000) had dropped down to second place against longhorn757 ($125,000), and Denny Lemieux's stack was at a critically low $19,000. Denny Lemieux called all in preflop against longhorn757 after a series of raises between the two and showed Aspade 6heart 5spade 4heart. Longhorn757 flipped up Adiamond Kspade Kdiamond 10spade for pocket kings and the lead. The flop was bad news for longhorn757 when it came 8heart 7spade 6club to give Denny Lemieux an 8-high straight. However, longhorn757 hit runner-runner for a full house, kings full of sevens, to send Denny Lemieux to the rail in ninth, earning $1,395.

EzOntheEyes was the next to go against someone who is also presumably easy on the eyes, -sexylady-. Both longhorn757 and -sexylady- called EzOntheEyes' preflop all in and the flop came 10diamond 7diamond 5spade. Longhorn757 checked and -sexylady- pushed all in, causing longhorn757 to fold. Now up against only EzOntheEyes, -sexylady- showed Aclub 7club 6heart 4diamond for a pair and an open-ended straight draw. EzOntheEyes turned over Adiamond Aheart 8diamond 2spade for the lead with aces and a flush draw. The turn completed the straight for -sexylady- with the 8heart and the river missed EzOntheEyes' flush draw and sent him home in eighth ($1,953).

Mkind0516 saw his stack dwindle by more than half over the next eight minutes, through a series of smaller pots. He finally decided to push the last of his chips in on a flop of Adiamond 9diamond 8heart against crackhAAd. CrackhAAd called and showed Aclub Kspade 10heart 9club for top two pair and Mkind0516 was behind with Aspade Kclub 8spade 4heart for a worse two pair. The turn and river helped neither, and Mkind0516 was eliminated in seventh with $2,551.

Lebouche followed Mkind0516 out the door just three hands later when he called all in against -sexylady- on a flop of 5diamond 5heart 2diamond. Lebouche was covered by -sexylady- by barely over $10,000, meaning -sexylady- stood to almost double up in the hand. Lebouche turned over Aspade Adiamond 6diamond 6heart for two pair, aces and fives, and -sexylady- flipped up Kspade Qheart 10spade 5club and was in the lead with trip fives. The turn and river did nothing for either player and -sexylady- took in a huge pot to almost double his stack and eliminate Lebouche in sixth ($3,069).

In fact, the almost double-up put -sexylady- in the lead with $204,000, ahead of leggggggggggy who had moved into the lead at $176,000. -Sexylady- put himself even further in the lead with the next elimination hand. Fozzdaddy was the short stack at the time, with $66,000, and -sexylady- called his preflop raise to see a flop of 7club 6club 5diamond. -Sexylady- led out with a pot-sized bet and fozzdaddy called all in and showed Adiamond Aclub Jheart 7diamond for a pair of aces. -Sexylady- revealed Aspade Jdiamond 9heart 8spade for a flopped 9-high straight and the lead. The 10spade came on the turn to needlessly improve -sexylady-'s straight and the river was a blank to send fozzdaddy packing in fifth, cashing in $3,627.

Five more minutes went by until crackhAAd, the new short stack at the table, got his last $68,000 in preflop. He flipped up Qdiamond Jdiamond Jspade 7diamond and was up against (who else?) -sexylady- with Aclub Kclub Kheart 2spade. -Sexylady- managed to further his lead when an ace hit on the flop and, in the end, crackhAAd's pocket jacks weren't enough to keep him afloat. He got a $4,464 payday for fourth place.

While -sexylady- had the lead going into three-way play, with $257,000, both leggggggggggy and longhorn757 had been collecting chips along the way to stick close behind at $238,000 and $202,000, respectively. It was still anyone's game at this point. As a testament to that fact, -sexylady-'s big stack lasted just three hands into three-way action.

Two hands after crackhAAd's elimination, -sexylady- lost a big pot to longhorn757. After calling a preflop raise by longhorn757, -sexylady- checked the flop of Qspade Jdiamond 2diamond. Longhorn757 continued his aggression by making a pot-sized bet of $60,000. -Sexylady- responded by pushing all in for $229,000, having longhorn757 covered by just over $31,000. Longhorn757 called and showed bad news with Qdiamond Qheart 8spade 2heart for the mortal nuts. -Sexylady- flipped up Qclub Jclub 8club 6spade for top two pair and was hurting badly. The turn and river helped neither and longhorn757 doubled up to give himself a massive lead. -Sexylady- was left crippled after the hand with just $31,000. Longhorn757 finished -sexylady- off in the very next hand when he called -sexylady-'s preflop all in. Both players hit two pair, kings up, in the hand, but longhorn757's second pair of jacks was enough to put -sexylady- out in third ($6,138).

Longhorn757, having entered three-way play in third, now had more than twice as many chips as leggggggggggy in second. Longhorn757 continuously whittled away at leggggggggggy's stack over the next six minutes, until the final hand. Leggggggggggy called from the small blind and longhorn757 raised three times the blind to $24,000. Leggggggggggy made a pot-sized reraise up to $72,000 and longhorn757 reraised enough to put leggggggggggy all in for his remaining $12,000. Leggggggggggy called all in and showed 9spade 7club 6spade 5club while longhorn757 revealed 10diamond 10club 7spade 2spade for the lead. The flop came Aspade Jdiamond 9club, giving leggggggggggy a pair of nines, though he was still behind. The turn was a blank with the 3spade and the river paired the board with the Aheart, giving both players two pair. Of course, longhorn757 held the higher second pair and took down the pot to eliminate leggggggggggy in second ($8,649) and win the tournament. Longhorn757 raked in $14,508 and a silver UBOC bracelet for his win in the tournament, his second big win at UltimateBet in less than two weeks. His total winnings from taking down the two tournaments came to almost $60,000.

The final standings were:

1) longhorn757 - $14,508
2) leggggggggggy - $8,649
3) -sexylady- - $6,138
4) crackhAAd - $4,464
5) fozzdaddy - $3,627
6) Lebouche - $3,069
7) Mkind0516 - $2,551
8) EzOntheEyes - $1,953
9) Denny Lemieux - $1,395
10) manindisdress - $1,116
