In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. MIDWEST
- The 2014 Chicago Poker Classic (Apr 29, ’14 – May 12, ’14) The Horseshoe Hammond in Indiana, just a short drive from Chicago, has been host to some massive tournaments in recent years. Starting this week they have a few more on offer, starting with a $1 million guaranteed event with a $350 buy-in that kicks off with the first of eight starting flights at noon on Apr. 29th. - The 2014 HPT Missouri Ameristar (Apr 24, ‘14 – May 05, ’14) The Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO kicked off late last week, but the eight-event series reaches it’s climax in the coming days with the centerpiece of the whole affair, the $1,650 buy-in Heartland Poker Tour no-limit hold’em main event kicking off with the first of three starting flights on May 2nd at 2:00 PM local time. On May 3rd the second and third flights begin at 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM, respectively.
NEVADA
- The 2014 WSOP Warm-Up (Apr 25, ‘14 – May 04, ’14) Caesars Palace Las Vegas is hosting a series of tournaments with the intention of getting people at fighting weight for the royal rumble that is the WSOP that is now just around the corner. The highlight of the week is the $560 buy-in, $25,000 guaranteed no-limit hold’em event that begins on May 3rd at noon.
INTERNATIONAL
- The 2014 EPT Grand Final (Apr 23, ‘14 – May 02, ’14) The European Poker Tour’s tenth season is wrapping up this week in Monte Carlo. Registration is already closed in the EPT Grand Final main event, but there are still numerous side events for players to partake in, including the massive €25,500 no-limit hold’em high roller event that begins at noon on Apr. 30th.
- The 2014 APT Philippines (Apr 30, ‘14 – May 07, ’14) The Resorts World Manila Casino in the Philippines kicks off it’s 15-event tournament series this week with the highlights being a $5,000 buy-in that begins at 2:00 PM on May 1st and the $2,700 main event which begins with the first of two starting days at 1:00 PM on May 3rd.
MOUNTAIN
- The 2014 WSOP Circuit Lodge Casino (Apr 24, ‘14 – May 05, ’14) The Lodge Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado is the latest stop on the WSOP Circuit as the tour winds down in preparation for the summer. The highlight of the week is of course the $1,675 WSOP-C no-limit hold’em main event which kicks off with the first of two starting days at 11:00 AM local time on May 2nd.
EAST COAST
- The 2014 Parx Big Stax VI (Apr 30, ’14 – May 19, ’14) Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA kicks off a nine-event tournament series on May 1st with a $330 buy-in five day tournament. The event has three staring days, each beginning at 11:00 AM local time.
