A man in the United Kingdom with a severe gambling problem reportedly went on a destructive rampage at a betting shop.
According to the Birmingham Mail, Hassan Yousaf blew his last £230 and then smashed a roulette machine with a stool at a Ladbrokes branch in Green Lane, Small Heath.
The incident happened about a year after he was convicted of a similar crime at a betting shop in Manchester.
“A member of staff told the gentleman he should leave, he ignored her,” the prosecutor in the case said. “Then he picked up a stool and smashed it against the machine three times, smashing the screen and internal mechanisms. The damage caused to the machine was valued at £6,000. He spent about £228 on this machine. He said staff did not ask him to leave until he had spent all of his money…He expressed remorse for his actions for the staff—but not for Ladbrokes because he said they prey on the weak.”
Yousaf will appear in court on June 16.
