Draft Of New Poker Bill Floats Around Capitol HillCaesars Entertainment Is Likely Backer Of The Proposal |

A draft of a new poker-only bill is being floated among lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
According to RalstonReports.com, Caesars Entertainment is likely the backer of the measure, which is titled “The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Control Act of 2014.”
The bill would not allow for other casino table games on the Internet.
The new bill comes as other efforts have been made, with the backing of Sheldon Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands Corp., to ban all forms of online gaming nationwide. There is also still a poker-only bill from Texas Congressman Joe Barton, but that hasn’t made any progress. The casino industry hasn’t really supported Barton’s version.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the American Gaming Association, the casino industry’s top lobbying group on Capitol Hill, will be pulling its public advocacy for online gaming, but that doesn’t mean its members will. Caesars is a member of the AGA.
Caesars operates online gambling in both Nevada and New Jersey. In addition to those two states, Delaware is the only other with legal and operational web gambling.
Other states are looking to get into the mix, but the grand prize for the industry would be a federal poker bill since it would legalize it nationwide in one swift action. States will likely be able to opt-out of such a system, however. Some—such as Utah—definitely would go that route.
