In this Card Player weekly feature we look to provide our readers with a guide to some of the biggest poker events taking place in their area for the upcoming week. SOUTH
- The 2014 Card Player Poker Tour II Choctaw Casino Resort (Jul 17, ‘14 – Aug 04, ’14) The Card Player Poker Tour pulled into Durant, Oklahoma a couple weeks ago for the $1 million-guaranteed CPPT Choctaw Casino Resort series. The tour stop features 81 events in total, 39 of which will offer guaranteed prizepools ranging from $5,000 to $200,000. The highlight of this week’s action will be the $500,000 guaranteed $1,620 Card Player Poker Tout main event, which will kick off with the first of two starting days at noon on Aug. 1st and continue until a champion is decided at the live streamed final table on Monday, Aug. 4th.
INTERNATIONAL
- The 2014 Macau Poker Cup (Aug 01, ’14 – Aug 17, ’14) The City of Dreams in Macau is playing host to the Macau Poker Cup again this August, with 14 events set to take place in the current global center of gaming. The early highlight is a $1 Million HKD guaranteed event which begins on Aug. 2nd at 6:00 PM local time.
NORTHEAST
- The 2014 Parx Big Stax VII Parx Casino in Bensalem, PA is hosting the seventh iteration of it’s popular Big Stax tournament series starting this week. There are eight tournaments in total, with three of them featuring sizable guaranteed prize pools. The kickoff event is a $330 buy-in tournament with $150,000 that begins with the first of three starting days at 11:00 AM on Jul 31st.
- The 2014 Summer Slam (Jul 25, ‘14 – Aug 03, ’14) The Seneca Niagara Casino and Hotel in Niagara Falls, NY has an eight-event tournament series beginning this weekend. This week’s main attraction is a $300,000 no-limit hold’em event beginning at 11:00 AM local time on July 26th, but the highlight of the entire series is the $100,000 guaranteed main event which begins on Aug. 1st.
- The 2014 Summer Showdown (Jul 30, ’14 – Aug 03, ’14) The Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT has a seven-event series kicking off later this week, the centerpiece of which is the $1,100 $100,000 guaranteed main event which begins on Aug. 2nd.
MIDWEST
- The 2014 Summer Mini-Series (Jul 30, ‘14 – Aug 10, ’14) The Horseshoe Casino Hammond in Indiana is hosting a 10-event series starting later this week. the highlight of which is a $250,000 guaranteed $660 no-limit hold’em main event which begins with the first three starting days at 12:15 PM on Aug. 7th.
- The 2014 Midwest Poker Classic (Aug 01, ’14 – Aug 10, ’14) The Running Aces Card Room in Columbus, MN is hosting two sizable tournaments as part of the Midwest Poker Classic. This weekend the $50,000 guaranteed $500 buy-in event kicks off at 11:00 AM on Aug. 2nd.
- The 2014 Denny Crum Poker Open (Jul 23, ‘14 – Aug 02, ’14) The Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth, IN is hosting a 21-event tournament series which began last week. This week will see a number of events, including the $675 buy-in no-limit hold’em event which begins at noon on Aug. 2nd.
CALIFORNIA
- The 2014 WPT Legends of Poker (Jul 28, ‘14 – Sep 02, ’14) The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, CA kicks off it’s marquee tournament series this week, the Legends of Poker. The early highlight is a $200,000 guaranteed $235 buy-in event that features six starting flights, two each at noon and 5:00 PM daily from Jul. 29 – 31. The $3,700 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker main event begins on Aug. 23rd.
FLORIDA
- The 2014 PPC Ocala Poker Summer Splash (Jul 29, ‘14 – Aug 03, ’14) The Ocala Poker Jai-Alai in Reddick, FL is hosting rive tournaments this week, with the highlight being a $250 buy-in no-limit hold’em event with a $30,000 guarantee which kicks off on Jul. 31st with the first of five starting flights.
