2014 CarbonPoker Card Player Player of the Year Update -- Tristan Wade Wins As Fall Stretch Begins

A Look At The Biggest Poker Tournament Results Of The Last Seven Days And The Coming Weeks

In the wake of the WSOP the tournament poker world has spent much of the last few weeks taking a break. Things are just starting to hear up again in the 2014 Card Player Player of the Year race, sponsored by CarbonPoker. Here is a look at what went down over the past seven days and what to look forward to in the coming weeks.

WSOP Circuit Palm Beach Kennel Club Main Event

Tristan WadeA total of 303 players turned out for the first $1,675 main event of the 2014-15 season of the World Poker Tour Circuit, held at the Palm Beach Kennel Club in Florida. As a result the event built a prize pool of $454,500 which was to be split among the top 33 finishers.

In the end Florida native Tristan Wade emerged victorious, topping a tough final table that included the likes of Chane Kornuth (7th – $15,712), Will Souther (6th – $20,284), Zo Karim (5th – $26,597) and eventual runner-up David Diaz (2nd – $66,039).

For the win Wade earned his first circuit ring, the $106,806 first-place prize and 480 Player of the Year points. This was Wade’s first final table finish of 2014. Seventh-place finisher Chance Kornuth earned 120 points at his fourth final table of the year, moving him into 66th place in the overall standings with 1,584 points and $803,058 in year-to-date earnings.

Looking Forward

Casino BarcelonaThe WSOP Circuit has already kicked off it’s latest season, and a couple other major poker tour’s are set to join soon. The European Poker Tour will get it’s 11th season underway starting next week at the EPT Barcelona (Aug 16 – 27). The huge tournament series at the Casino Barcelona is highlighted by the €50,000 eight-max no-limit hold’em high roller which begins on Aug. 18th and the €5,300 EPT main event which begins on Aug. 21st.

The World Poker Tour’s first main event of it’s newest season gets underway as part of the Legends of Poker series at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles, California starting on Aug. 23rd. The $3,700 no-limit hold’em main event features three starting days and will continue until a champion is decided on Aug. 29th.

While not part of a tour, the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood, Florida is another huge event that will surely make a big impact on the Player of the Year race. The $10,000,000 guaranteed $5,300 no-limit hold’em main event features three starting days beginning on Aug. 28th and will continue until a winner is determined on Sept. 3rd.
