Maryland Sees Record Casino Gaming WinHorseshoe Casino Baltimore Helps State Break Its Record |

For the first time in the history of Maryland casinos monthly gaming revenue topped the $80 million threshold.
The state legalized casinos in 2008, and the first one opened in 2010.
On Aug. 26, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore opened, and it has been generating $1 million in revenue every day, according to the Baltimore Sun.
The $80.6 million recorded by the state’s five casinos beat the previous monthly high of $77.8 million from just four casinos in March of this year.
Then, the state’s four privately owned casinos—Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County, Casino at Ocean Downs in Worcester County, Maryland Live Casino in Anne Arundel County, and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County—had combined gaming revenues of $77,850,831.
Another project is on its way. MGM Resorts is looking to open its casino in Prince George’s County sometime in 2016. It will come with a price tag of $925 million.
If you exclude the Horseshoe, gaming revenues still increased 5.4 percent in August, year-over-year. Gaming revenues are expected to keep rising for the foreseeable future.
Maryland Live is still the state’s largest casino in terms of revenue. The property generated $57.3 million of the $80.6 million figure in August.
